Geraldine will meet you and your child to determine the most beneficial treatment plan. The initial meeting will most likely be adults only to gain a fuller perspective of your concerns. Geraldine will generally meet your child for three sessions before providing parent feedback and discussing a treatment plan with you.
The treatment options that Geraldine offers are:
- Individual Psychotherapy
- Parent–Child Psychotherapy
- Parent Consultation
- Circle of Security Parent Programme™ [COS-P]
- Watch Wait and Wonder™ [WWW]
Individual psychotherapy is generally on a weekly basis for children and young people, enabling Geraldine to gain an understanding of their inner world, in order to support them in developing age appropriate behaviours and attitudes so that they can cope more effectively in their day-to-day lives.
Parent-Child Psychotherapy is also generally on a weekly basis and serves to strengthen the relationship between you and your child and may be indicated in conjunction with the parent attending the Circle of Security Parent Programme™ [COS-P]. The Parent-Child play based sessions may help with practicing and coaching of the COS-P material.
Parent Consultation is offered as a stand-alone appointment, up to three in total where Geraldine will meet you, the parent or carer to talk and think together about difficulties in your parenting that you may be seeking support with and assistance in understanding in order to make effective parenting changes.
Circle of Security Parent Programme™ is offered to individual parents or carers, couples or groups. COS-P is for parents seeking understanding of their child’s emotional needs which may lie behind problematic behaviours.
Watch Wait and Wonder™ is a child-led infant-parent psychotherapy that strengthens the relationship between you and your baby or child when you may be experiencing day-to-day difficulties.
Geraldine also offers clinical supervision to other professionals working with infants, children and their whānau.
